Tacrolimus and Cyclosporine
From Monday 4th September 2023, the Biochemistry department will be analysing samples for tacrolimus and cyclosporine using a new LC-MS/MS method.
The new method has passed our internal validation process, and we identified no significant bias compared to results generated by the previous method.
There is no change to the sample type required (EDTA whole blood) or the way that the test is requested.
When we introduce new analytical equipment or techniques, we are not accredited for the new test until it has been assessed and signed off by the UK Accreditation Service (UKAS). Therefore the new method has not yet been UKAS accredited, but will be appraised at out next assessment.
